Cowboys' DeMarco Murray questionable Sunday

IRVING, Tex. - Though highly determined to play, Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray is officially listed as questionable when Dallas hosts the Indianpolis Colts on Sunday.

Murray had surgery on a bone in his hand on Monday to correct a brake sustained late in the Cowboys' 38-27 win in Philadelphia on Sunday night, the game that gave Dallas the lead in the NFC East over the Eagles.

The league's leading rusher has been insistent that he will start from the Dallas backfield in Week 16, and was limited in practice over the past two days, and is wearing a hard plastic shell on his hand for added protection.

Murray said Thursday that the decision to play will be his, a judgment head coach Jason Garrett largely agreed with.

"He knows how he feels more than anybody else," Garrett said. "It's our job as coaches and the medical staff to evaluate him and see if he's functional. If we see things that don't add up to what he's saying about how he's feeling, we'll certainly have that communication. But he's the one that knows about himself more than anybody, and we trust his feedback. He's a veteran player. He knows what it takes to play in a game."

Murray has 1,687 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns, both the best marks of any back in football, though also leads the game with 5 lost fumbles.
