Eagles lead Ravens 14-0 after first quarter

PHILADELPHIA -- Joe Flacco threw two interceptions and the Eagles scored two touchdowns as Philadelphia leads Baltimore 14-0 after the first quarter on Saturday night.

Eagles head coach Chip Kelly took the bubble wrap off his two biggest offseason acquisitions in the team’s second preseason tilt, quarterback Sam Bradford and tailback DeMarco Murray.

Bradford is seeking a return to an NFL regular season since 2013 after two torn ACLs and Murray to build on his league-best effort in yardage and touchdowns.

But it was the Eagles’ new-fangled secondary that got the early plaudits. Ravens passer Joe Flacco threw high on two occasions, with new additions Walter Thurmond and Byron Maxwell taking advantage, setting up the Eagles’ early lead.

Bradford would lead the home side over 84 yards on 11 plays, though not without some roadblocks along the way. He took what might be the two hardest hits he’ll take this season, a low and late tackle from Terrell Suggs and a direct shot from Brandon Williams in the pocket.

His accuracy fell victim to those challenges. Passes for Darren Sproles and Nelson Agholor were open and high. But a 14 yard gainer for Jordan Matthews was on the money in the red zone and reserve back Ryan Mathews would carry over the middle for the touchdown from 14 yards.

DeMarco Murray took over from 2 yards on the Eagles’ second drive with Bradford on the bench in exchange for Mark Sanchez.
