LANDOVER, Md. - LeSean McCoy rushed for Philadelphia and Alfred Morris for Washington as the Redskins lead the Eagles 10-3 in a first quarter battle between one team with much and another with nothing to play for.
Washington (3-11) would regain an early lead over 80 yards in 3 plays with 19 seconds left in the opening session.
Former Eagle DeSean Jackson hauled in a 51 yard reception from Griffin over corner Bradley Fletcher to the Eagles 28 and Alfred Morris galloped the final distance over left end and over the pylon to regain the lead for the Redskins.
Robert Griffin is 4-of-7 for 74 yards, named the starter this week after Colt McCoy aggravated a neck injury and was placed on the injured-reserve list.
LeSean McCoy scampered for an 11 yard touchdown rush to cap off a 79 yard drive in 10 plays that featured his 18 yard catch and 10 yard gallop. McCoy has 32 yards rushing on 8 attempts and the score.
Philadelphia (9-5), seeking to end a two-game skid, surrendered the lead in the NFC East after falling to the Cowboys last week. They need Dallas and Detroit to both lose this week and next and to win their last two contests to enter postseason contention.
Mark Sanchez is 7-of-9 for 73 yards and Jeremy Maclin has one catch for 22 yards.
Sanchez would open the contest on Saturday converting two third-downs to Zach Ertz and a 22 yard pass-play to Maclin into Redskins territory before doing what the Eagles do best.
Turn the football over.
Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan would race untouched over right tackle to strip Sanchez and recover for Washington, handing Philadelphia their league-worst 34th turnover.
Andre Roberts brought the Redskins into the red zone on their succeeding possession, tipping a 3rd-and-7 conversion to himself in mid-air for a 14 yard gainer.
Eagles corner Cary Williams put the Redskins on the 8-yard-line with after an unnecessary roughness call. Griffin rushed to the 8 and on 2nd-and-Goal was nearly intrecepted by safety Malcolm Jenkins, setting up the fourth-down kick from Kai Forbath.
