Orchard Park, N.Y. - After the Buffalo Bills said that Sunday's game against the New York Jets would be played at Ralph Wilson Stadium as planned, the NFL intervened and cancelled the contest.

Over five feet of snow, and in some areas over seven feet, fell over western New York in recent days, and in response, the city instituted travel restrictions in several neighborhoods and area suburbs.

A new date and stadium is yet to be announced for replacement.

"Due to public safety concerns in light of the ongoing weather emergency in Western New York, Sunday's Jets-Bills game will not be played in Buffalo," NFL spokesman Michael Signora said in a statement today. "We are in the process of rescheduling and relocating the game as part of Week 12. We will provide additional information as soon as possible."

"My sense is it's impractical to do the game because it would jeopardize public safety," Governor Andrew Cuomo said Thursday. "Everybody would love to see a Bills game go forward, but, I think even more, everybody wants to make sure public safety comes first."
