UCLA leading USC 24-14 at halftime in Rose Bowl

Pasadena, Ca. - Eldridge Massington caught a 13 yard touchdown from Brett Hundley with 14 seconds left in the first half as UCLA takes a 24-14 lead over USC at the Rose Bowl Saturday night.

Hundley led the Bruins over 68 yards in 11 plays after linebacker Eric Kendricks intercepted Cody Kessler when the Trojans were threatening.

Ahmaad Harris and Jordan Payton snagged 9 yard receptions and Jordan James and Brett Hundley both converted 3rd-and-1 plays on the ground during the drive, which ended after Massington came open over the middle in paydirt for the Bruins.

After not turning the ball over in two games against USC, Brett Hundley threw an interception on his first pass-attempt when Anthony Sarao picked him off and returned 17 yards for the score and the 7-0 lead for the Trojans.

But Hundley responded on two scoring drives, tossing from 10 yards to Devin Lucien after USC’s Nelson Agholor fumbled a punt reception, and a 57 yard strike to Thomas Duarte to give the Bruins the 14-7 lead.

Cody Kessler led the Trojans to open the second quarter, darting passes of 16 yards to Justin Davis and a 3rd-and-10 conversion to JuJu Smith for 26 yards to the UCLA 4.

Davis rushed to the UCLA 1 on 1st-and-Goal and Kessler kept on 2nd-down for a 1 yard loss. But his 3rd-and-Goal toss to Justin Smith in the flat gave the tailback his 2nd receiving touchdown on the year, from 2 yards out, and a 14-14 draw.

Ka'imi Fairbairn kicked a 32 yard field goal for the Bruins in the second quarter.

Hundley is 15-of-19 on 201 yards passing in thirty minutes for three touchdowns and an interception. Devin Fuller leads receivers with 63 yards on 5 catches.
