Wild score with :45 left, down Flyers 3-2 for 4th straight win

Philadelphia, Pa. - Minnesota and Philadelphia are two hockey teams going in two different directions.

After suffering at the hands of Columbus, Montreal, and the rival Rangers in succession, and hosting a Minnesota Wild team against whom they were 7-2 at home all-time, the Flyers' Thursday night clash seemed the proper occasion to rebound their campaign.

With the Flyers inducting "Legion of Doom" linemates Eric Lindros and John Leclair into their Hall of Fame before the game, there was certainly enough energy at the Wells Fargo Center to push the home side to victory.

And after Claude Giroux brought matters to a 2-2 tie at 16:30 of the third period on the power-play, that victory looked inevitable as Philly would take the momentum into a likely overtime period.

That was, until Jason Zucker took and held the lead for the Wild with 45 seconds remaining, darting the game-winner past Ray Emery's left glove.

Minnesota left town with their fourth-straight victory, and Philadelphia went home with their fourth-straight defeat.

The Flyers' defeat came not from a want of offense, outshooting the Wild 16-4 in the first period and 39-30 overall.

Darcy Kuemper stopped 37 of those 39 shots minding Minnesota's net, including 2-of-3 power-play chances from the 7th-best power-play unit in hockey.

Philadelphia (7-9-2, 16 pts) was nursing a 1-1 draw into the third period after Mark Streit drew even with the visitors, on the receiving end of a pass from Wayne Simmonds to Vincent Lecavalier, both of whom were credited with the assist.

Streit darted past Darcy Kuemper's right glove for the defenseman's third score this year.

Nino Niederreiter lit the lamp after a scoreless first session, putting the Wild ahead 1-0 on the man-advantage, gained after Philly's Andrew MacDonald tripped Mikael Granlund.

The goal, Niederreiter's 9th this season, snuck through with 8 seconds left on the advantage. Marco Scandella fired the assist from the left circle to open scoring at 10:59.

Emery was under siege for the previous 1:58, deflecting a one-timer from Ryan Suter and pushing aside a close range blast from Granlund. Zach Parise took a pass from Tomas Vanek and came open for a sure goal to Emery's left but lost control of his shot.

Ray Emery saved 27-of-30 shots against him this evening in defeat, stopping 4-of-5 power-plays from the Wild.

Marco Scandella struck at 1:42 of the third for his 4th score this season. Niederreiter and Granlund featured on the assist before the defenseman fired a slap shot to the right corner.

Flyers RW Jakub Voracek was held without a point for the second-straight game. His 26 points are tied for most in the league along with Sidney Crosby.
