Eagles leading Titans 34-17 after three quarters

Philadelphia, Pa. - Mark Sanchez and the Eagles cashed in on a Tennessee turnover as they lead the Titans 34-17 after three quarters Sunday.

Tennessee (2-8) lost possession on their first drive in the third quarter when Zach Mettenberger’s 3rd-and-16 pass attempt was deflected by end Fletcher Cox, who sacked the quarterback two plays earlier.

But that deflection landed in the hands of Titans center Brian Schwenke, who advanced it forward, but then fumbled it, recovered by Nate Allen for the Eagles at the Titans 33.

From which LeSean McCoy rushed left for 14 quick yards. Guard Evan Mathis was then called for illegally using his hands and on 1st-and-20 Sanchez found Riley Cooper for 15 more to the Titans 14.

James Casey snagged the next pass, a 2nd-and-5 in the end zone for the 14 yard touchdown and the 34-17 lead for the Eagles.

Mark Sanchez is 26-of-36 for 256 yards passing, a touchdown and two picks.

Sanchez was intercepted at 5:13 in the third when his 3rd-and-6 pass sailed over Zach Ertz and into the hands of Daimion Stafford at the Titans 26, returning it 33 yards to the Eagles 41.

Not that the succeeding drive would go anywhere.

Bishop Sankey would lose the football after Bennie Logan punched it out amid the scrum on the first play of that drive, recovered by corner Bradley Fletcher for the home side at the Eagles 47.

Josh Huff returned the opening kickoff for the Eagles 107 yards and Darren Sproles rushed for a 4 yard score as the Eagles took a quick 17-0 lead. Huff’s 13 second dash was the best yardage return in Eagles history.

Connor Barwin, and Trent Cole notched two sacks each and Trent Cole added another on Zach Mettenberger, who completed 11 of his 19 pass attempt for 200 yards and a touchdown.

Sunday’s game is the seventh of the season Philadelphia (7-3) scored at least 30 points.
