UCLA leads USC 14-7 after first quarter

Pasadena, Ca. - Brett Hundley threw a pick-six and two touchdowns as UCLA leads USC 14-7 after the first quarter at the Rose Bowl Saturday night.

Brett Hundley had not turned the ball over in his two game career against USC, but Anthony Sarao intercepted Hundley’s first pass and returned 17 yards the other way and a 7-0 Trojan lead.

But the Bruins would respond after USC’s Nelson Agholor fumbled a punt, giving UCLA the 1st-and-Goal from the Trojans 7. Myles Jack rushed left but lost yardage back to the 12 and Devin Fuller caught back to the 10.

USC blitzed from both corners on 3rd-and-Goal, opening the back of the end zone for Devin Lucien who slipped through and came open for the 10 yard touchdown grab.

Brett Hundley found Thomas Duarte 39 seconds later on a 57 yard touchdown strike after the receiver outraced the Trojans’ secondary to give Westwood the touchdown advantage.

Brett Hundley was sacked on a 3rd-and-5 on their next drive after Gerald Bowman raced around right end as Hundley was brought down for the second time in the quarter. Matt Mengel fumbled the succeeding punt and was nearly brought down in the end zone, but got off a 13 yard punt.

Hundley is 5-of-6 on 107 yards passing, two scores, and an interception.

USC ventured a 4th-down play from the Bruins 5 but Buck Allen was stuffed for no gain.
