That thing that couldn't happen, that thing Jay Gruden didn't want to see happen? It happened.
Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III left the team's preseason game against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night at FedEx Field after suffering what trainers described as a right shoulder stinger.
They were also evaluating him for a possible concussion on the play, and have listed him officially as questionable to return.
On the Redskins' fourth series of the night, until then having gained only 10 yards in the first quarter, Griffin was sacked on consecutive plays, the second time fumbling into the hands of Gabe Wright of the Lions.
He was down for several minutes after that play, where it appeared one of his teammates rolled up on his shoulder, getting attended to by trainers before leaving for the locker room.
