The injury bug crawled its way into Redskins headquarters again on Sunday, as the team announced linebacker Trent Murphy is day-to-day with a hip injury.
Murphy was held out of Sunday's practice session for precautionary measures for the injury, sustained in the Redskins' 21-17 exhibition win over the Lions last Thursday, but came back into that game shortly after.
Jackson Jeffcoat and rookie Preston Smith will likely fill in at the right outside position while Murphy sits out. Smith and Murphy were expected to have a competition for the spot this summer after the latter's lackluster outing.
Murphy finished last season with 32 tackles, two forced fumbles, and 2.5 sacks in 15 games.
The Redskins also announced kicker Kai Forbath was day-to-day with a quad injury, also from that ill-fated contest last week against Detroit. Tight ends Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen were lost for the season with ankle and toe injuries, respectively, and quarterback Robert Griffin III left Thursday's game with a shoulder stinger and declared concussion.
